In terms of deliverability, toll-free numbers typically have a poor delivery rate if you have contacts under several different phone carriers. A local number is a better option if you have less than 1000 contacts. If you have more than 1000 contacts, you may want to try using a high-volume A2P number.
A2P is an industry term that means “Application to Person” and indicates a platform or an automated service is sending a text message. An A2P-enabled high-volume local number is verified and approved by wireless carriers, which increases your trust level.
If your organization regularly texts groups of over a thousand contacts at a time, you may want to upgrade to a high-volume A2P-enabled number that allows you to send text messages at faster speeds with better delivery rates.
