SANTA MONICA, Calif — December 17, 2020 — EZ Texting the leader in SMS marketing software for business, today announced the latest results of its Holiday Texting Survey. More than half (56%) of Americans will shop on their mobile phones during the holidays this year, while 43% will send a text to an ex, hoping for a reunion under the mistletoe this season.

“The EZ Texting Holiday Survey data shows Americans use texting as a way to communicate not only with family and friends but also with brands while shopping,” said Norman Happ, CEO of EZ Texting. “This is really important this holiday season, as online and mobile shopping are the biggest trend this pandemic year as people embrace the convenience and safety of shopping from their phones.”

Shop on the Go

The many ways Americans will be holiday shopping this year include:

  • Mobile phone (56%)
  • Computer (50%)
  • In-store (50%)
  • Tablet (27%)

Of these different methods, the mobile phone is the device that is within arm’s reach at any time of the day and in any location of the home, as noted in EZ Texting’sHoliday Shopping Survey results published in November.

Shoppers would be most comfortable texting with clothing, shoes or accessories brands to make a holiday purchase (45%), followed by electronics (37%), home goods (30%), and makeup/beauty/skincare products (27%).

Texting Loved Ones and Exes

Holiday decorations aren’t limited to lights on the house or a wreath on the door. People spruce up their text messages as well, saying the best holiday emoji is a Christmas tree (29%), a snowman (22%), Santa (21%), or a present (19%).

The airwaves and cable channels are filled with Yuletide movies during this time of year. In that spirit, the fictional character most Americans want to receive a holiday text from is:
